At Forestry England Camping we’re passionate about offering beautiful campsites, where you can switch off, relax and get back in touch with nature and the family and friends you are with.

We’re excited to be working with new site operators across England in 2023. You’ll still find your favourite sites listed here – or why not venture to one you’ve not visited before? The links will take you directly to our new operators’ websites where you can book your next stay.

All of our campsites have direct access to the forest and the miles of paths they boast, and offer some of the best camping in the UK.

Ocknell Campsite, New Forest

Feb 23, 2015, 09:42 AM
Welcoming all campers, Ocknell is a staple campsite for all those wishing to enjoy all the New Forest has to offer. A beautiful campsite brimming with character, free-roaming New Forest ponies, history and charm, Ocknell is exactly what you’ve been looking for.

Our glorious Ocknell campsite combines tranquil spots set amongst the trees and ferns with spacious, open pitches, all bounded by the forest's trees.

Paths take off in all directions, weaving through the site and in and out of the trees, creating an almost secret garden-like feel to the site.

The site is perfect for children to play and explore, or as a base for taking off into the forest, while the views provided at any one spot are incredible and instantly warm the soul. Ocknell is the restful place you’ve been seeking.

Ocknell is in the northern half of the New Forest, around a 20-minute drive from Lyndhurst, the area's capital. A traditional English village, Lyndhurst's appeal is its many independent shops, cafés and pubs.

ike all of our New Forest sites, Ocknell offers direct access to the beautiful heathland and forest walks afforded by a stay in these ancient woodlands straight from your tent.

To enjoy that peaceful site you deserve, book your next camping holiday at Ocknell campsite online now!

Please note: this is a limited facility campsite; there are toilets but no showers. Rock pegs are strongly recommended.

Any barbecues used on our sites should be specifically designed and used only for the purpose of cooking food (i.e. not firepits). They should be robust, secure and able to be raised off of the forest floor, there should be no damage or marks left on the ground where they have been used. In support of the New Forest Action Plan, we are asking campers not to bring disposable barbecues for their stay. We are also reminding campers that outside of our sites, no barbecues of any kind are now allowed anywhere in the New Forest.

Please do not feed, pet or approach the animals in and around the campsite; they may look friendly but are unpredictable and can bite and kick. Please keep all food sealed and out of reach of the ponies
